PENDLETON – The Pendleton City Council will hold a work session tomorrow (Tuesday) at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will be in council chambers of Pendleton City Hall and can also be accessed via Zoom. Instructions on how to access are on the agenda posted on the calendar at the city’s official website. There are only two items on the agenda.
Pendleton Urban Renewal Associate Director Charles Denight will take a deeper look at downtown buildings that appear to be vacant. He breaks down which ones are planning to open in the near future, which ones are being renovated, and other categories. His report is attached to the agenda on the website.
Associate Planner Julie Chase will report to the council on the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s upcoming changes to the flood hazard development area. Those changes resulted from a lawsuit against FEMA by representatives for the Endangered Species Act. Communities have to adopt the new code by December, which is not possible in Oregon due to the Oregon Legislature not meeting until 2025. FEMA is aware of that and is willing to take applications on a permit-by-permit basis.
No actions are planned to be taken during the work session. The next regular meeting of the council will be Oct. 15.
