COLLEGE PLACE – The Williams Companies, which processes and transports natural gas, is conducting routine maintenance on its pipeline infrastructure near Commercial Drive and State Route 125 in College Place. During the maintenance period, an open flame may be visible.

The maintenance process requires natural gas to be displaced intermittently through a regulatory-approved method called controlled flaring. This common practice allows Williams to guide an inspection tool through the pipeline as part of maintenance procedures to protect the public’s safety and avoid service interruptions to customers.

Williams has coordinated with the city and first responders. Maintenance is expected to be completed this Friday.
