IRRIGON – The Morrow County Sheriff’s Office acted quickly when a report came in Sunday that a student posted a plan to bring a firearm to Irrigon Junior/Senior High School on Monday. MCSO immediately reported that to the Morrow County School District and launched an investigation.

“Following a thorough investigation, the suspect who made the concerning social media post was identified, contacted, and arrested and lodged,” Sheriff John Bowles wrote.

Even though the subject was in custody on Monday, there was increased presence of deputies at the school to ensure the safety of all students and staff throughout the school day.

“We appreciate the quick and thorough response of the Morrow County Sheriff’s Office, the school district stated in a release. “This serves as an important reminder to all of us that if you see or hear something that could pose a safety risk, it is critical to speak up. Your vigilance helps keep our schools safe.”
