ONTARIO – (Release from Ontario Police Department) On 9/15/24, Ontario Police responded to a deer stuck in the settling ponds. Upon arrival, it was obvious the doe was struggling to get out and was exhausted from trying. She continued attempting to help her fawn, who was already deceased. Officers tried several methods and enlisted multiple people to assist. Finally, a local cowboy, Shawn Moulton, answered his phone. Shawn had been feeding his animals and was headed to church, but he put everything on hold and responded immediately.
As soon as he arrived, Shawn put on his muck boots and grabbed his rope. Without hesitation, he tied an extension cord around his waist and went down to the water’s edge. The doe eventually made her way to the edge and a concrete barrier. Shawn managed to get close enough to rope her and help her out of the water.
Shawn was thanked for his willingness to help, to which he humbly replied, “It’s what we do, we help.” Shawn was truly the hero of the day, and his willingness to serve others became his top priority. Thank you, Shawn!
