PENDLETON – The city of Pendleton is moving forward in its plan to open up a vast tract of land referred to as the Rees-Goad property for housing development. From bringing water to the area to developing other infrastructure, City Manager Robb Corbett says they’re taking it a step at a time.
The first step is bidding out the construction of Franklin Grade Road which is in the vicinity of the former juvenile detention center off exit 210 of Interstate 84.
“Once we get the Franklin Grade Road done, then housing can start,” Corbett said. “It’s imperative we get that road built.”
The city manager said that construction on Franklin Grade Road will begin in spring 2025. The next major road project will be a connector road between Highway 11 and Highway 30 using a portion of Southeast Kirk Avenue and Goad Road. That road will also include an extension to link the connector road with Franklin Grade. Once completed, the roads and infrastructure will open 250 acres of land in southeast Pendleton for development.
