BURNS (Released by Burns Police Department)-On September 09, 2024 at approximately 9:07 a.m., the Burns Police Department was dispatched to a reported apparent death at Washington Park, located in the 300 block of North Birch Avenue, Burns.
Burns Public Works personnel completing park maintenance activities discovered a locked bathroom at the park and attempted contact with the occupant several times, without result. After unlocking the door to complete maintenance tasks, personnel discovered the deceased subject and contacted law enforcement.
Based upon the initial investigation, the death is considered accidental as the result of illicit substance use.
The name of the decedent is not being released at this time. The Burns Police Department continues investigation to positively identify the individual and make next of kin notification.
