Man arrested for August incident resists and faces more charges

HERMISTON – Angel Padilla, 24, was being sought by the Hermiston Police Department for fleeing a traffic stop on August 23 was located Friday. When informed he was under arrest, Padilla allegedly resisted.

Police Chief Jason Edmiston said officers located the suspect in the Harbor Freight parking lot. He struggled with officers and both Padilla and the officers sustained minor injuries. Edmiston said that in the initial confrontation, Padilla fled on a motorcycle but officers identified him as the operator.

“After a short struggle on the ground, Padilla was taken into custody,” Edmiston wrote.

After Padilla was medically cleared at Good Shepherd Medical Center he was lodged at the Umatilla County Jail on the original charges of felony attempt to elude, felony second-degree escape, and misdemeanor reckless driving, as well as new charges of misdemeanor resisting arrest and felony assault of an officer.
