UMATILLA – The Umatilla Police Department has arrested Roman Valentin Garza, 45, after he initially fled from officers. At that time, he provided statements that admitted guilt to being in possession of a stolen vehicle, according to the police report.

They later tracked Garza down and took him into custody at 1411 Sixth Street on Wednesday morning. Once he was transported to Umatilla County Jail, Garza was alleged to having “presumed controlled substances” on his person. UPD said the substances, which appeared to be methamphetamine, have been submitted for testing.

Four charges have been brought against Garza based on the Umatilla arrest. They are unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, felony unlawful possession of methamphetamine, supplying contraband, and third-degree escape.

The department reports that there were several charges from other law enforcement agencies that are also now charged against Garza. They include two counts of unauthorized use of a vehicle, two counts of first-degree theft, and possession of a stolen vehicle.
