JOHN DAY – The Two Cabin Fire burning northeast of Monument has been updated to 251 acres and is 3% contained. Grant County Sheriff Todd McKinley was on KJDY’s Coffee Time Thursday, and said:

“Two Cabin up out of Monument—you know, it’s kind of peculiar. That lighting fire is right in the middle of an unburned pocket between, basically, [the] Boneyard and Monkey [fires].

If it burned to the north, it would burn right back into itself; but it decided to burn to the southwest, which is where the fire hadn’t been.”

Sheriff McKinley also reported the Fox Fire near Fox is a new start, last updated at about a half an acre with resources on scene.
