BURNS – The Oregon State Police have released details regarding a deadly crash that claimed the life of one Harney County teenager. The 17-year-old male’s name was not released. Find OSP’s release below:

On August 24, 2024 at around 6:25 A.M., OSP responded to a reported serious injury, single motor vehicle crash, with entrapment on US Highway 395C near mile post 54 in Harney County, Oregon. Preliminary investigation revealed that a white, 1996 Ford F-250, operated by a 17 year old male, was traveling south bound, when he failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway. The pickup crossed the centerline into the north bound lane of travel and subsequently left the roadway, gradually traveled down a steep embankment where the vehicle struck a tree and came to an uncontrolled rest.
The 17 year old male was extracted by Burns and Hines Fire Department with assistance from Larkin Towing. The 17 year old male was transported by the Harney District EMS to the Harney District Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. The vehicle was towed by Larkin Towing. OSP was assisted by Burns and Hines Fire Department, ODOT, Larkin Towing. Harney District EMS. The Highway was shut down for approximately 30 minutes during the incident. The family was notified.
