PENDLETON – Pendleton City Manager Robb Corbett says the city is working with a private investor who wants to build 90 T-hangars at the Eastern Oregon Regional Airport. He said those hangars are sorely needed.
“We have a lot of aircraft that are out on the tarmac that are tied down, many of whom would love to have their aircraft under cover,” he said.
Airport Commission Chairman Jeff Guenther delivered the group’s report, and then Airport Manager Dan Bandel added some highlights for the year at this week’s Pendleton City Council meeting. They include long-term projects in the works like a grass runway and the opportunity to sell land in the industrial park as well as the renovation of the B-17 Hangar for the Center of Innovation Excellence.
Bandel added that the Young Eagles flight rally in June was a success. A total of 112 young people were flown by nine pilots. The rally works to get a new generation interested in aviation.
