OSP thanks the public for sturgeon tips

UMATILLA COUNTY – The Oregon State Police has issued thanks to everyone who contacted the OSP Fish and Wildlife Division TIP (Turn In Poachers) line with information regarding an investigation into the person(s) who were responsible for the unlawful take of an oversized sturgeon within the protected breeding sanctuary in Umatilla County.

“The suspect(s) involved in this incident have been identified and the investigation continues,” a news release from the Oregon State police states. “We ask that no further information be forwarded through the OSP TIP line.”

The original call for help from the public stated that the sturgeon was taken at nighttime on or around May 9. A video of the event was then posted on Snapchat.
