Red Flag Warning in effect until Thursday night

HARNEY COUNTY-The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning in effect from midnight tonight, August 14, 2024 until 10pm Friday, August 16, 2024.

The National Weather Service is calling for lightning, scattered thunderstorms, and outflow wind gusts up to 45 mph.

A low pressure system will bring scattered thunderstorms beginning late tonight in fire zones 636 and 637, including Harney County and northern Malheur County. Thunderstorms activity is expected to move out of the area by late Thursday morning, with a second round of thunderstorms likely Thursday afternoon and evening. Moisture levels will be slightly higher, but abundant lightning will still accompany any thunderstorm. Gusty and erratic outflow winds are also likely near any storm.
