Steens, Silvies, or Malheur River Unit hunters…know before you go

HARNEY COUNTY-If you have tags for the Steens, Silvies, or Malheur River units in southeast Oregon this late-summer or fall…know before you go.

Aerial spray treatments for invasive weed species are planned in multiple areas throughout these hunt units. Spraying could occur anytime in August through October and could include helicopters or fixed wing aircraft. Maps of each treatment area are here: https://on.doi.gov/3VHXKAE

A helicopter-assisted wild horse gather in the South Steens Herd Management Area is tentatively scheduled to start mid-August and last for up to 2 weeks. Gather details are here: https://on.doi.gov/3LNIkF8

Due to wildfire activity in the area, some portions of the Malheur National Forest are closed until further notice. BLM- managed public lands adjacent to or in the vicinity will remain open unless conditions change. Malheur National Forest closure information is here: https://bit.ly/3W6c0lP
