MILTON-FREEWATER – Milton-Freewater Rural Fire Department and EMS Chief Rick Saager reports the Walla Walla River Road – Powerline Road Fire is now contained, and crews continue to patrol it.
Saager explained the fire, which started last Thursday afternoon, was caused by a structure fire on Walla Walla River Road and burned about 3,000 acres.
Shortly after the fire started, evacuation notices were issued by the Umatilla County Emergency Operations Center. All evacuation notices were removed on Saturday.
Saager said that Milton-Freewater Rural Fire Department and EMS is the only agency on the fire now as everyone else has been released.
