Washington man arrested after lying drunk in middle of I-84 in La Grande

LA GRANDE– A Washington man was arrested for multiple charges after he was found drunk and lying in the middle of Interstate 84 near La Grande. 

According to Oregon State Police, On July 18 at approximately 1:36 p.m., Trooper Kainoa Delatori responded to reports of a male blocking traffic on the eastbound side of I-84. Upon arrival, law enforcement found that the individual had crossed to the westbound side and was lying in the interstate. The man had been moved off the road and over the guardrail by officers already on the scene.

A witness reported hearing what sounded like a vehicle fishtailing while working on the weigh scales near milepost 259. Lamvik followed the pickup, thinking it was going to crash. The driver of the vehicle managed to pull over, partially blocking the slow lane eastbound, then exited the vehicle and ran to the westbound side.

The driver, identified as Jesse L. Moore, 43, of Mead, Washington, displayed indicators of intoxication and was subsequently arrested. Moore faces charges of Disorderly Conduct II, Reckless Driving, DUII, and Giving False Information to Police. He was transported to the Union County Correctional Facility, where he was booked and lodged.
