Update from ODOT as of 7:17am- I-84 is now open in eastern Oregon. The Durkee Fire forced another closure late last night. Travelers should be prepared for more I-84 closures as this fire remains active. Travelers who need to move east or west through central and eastern Oregon should use U.S. 20. If you plan to travel across Oregon in the coming days, make sure you carefully plan your route by using TripCheck.com. Other eastern Oregon highways may be closed or impacted as well.

Update as of 7:05am- Tripcheck is showing that areas of I-84 are reopening with traffic now visible on ODOT cameras.
Please use caution of you are traveling and plan for delays or repeat closures due to wildfires.

Update as of 5:00am: I-84 eastbound is now closed from Pendleton (Exit 216) to Baker City. I-84 is closed in both directions between Baker City (Exit 302) and Ontario (Exit 374). The Durkee Fire remains active and forced the closure late last night. U.S. 30 between Baker City and Haines, OR 204 (Tollgate Hwy.), OR 203 (Medical Springs Hwy.) and OR 245 are also closed to all but local traffic, as these are not viable detours for freeway traffic. ODOT is allowing local eastbound passenger traffic on I-84 from Exit 216 to Baker City only. Expect extended closures. Travelers who need to move east or west across central and eastern Oregon should use U.S. 20. As of 4:00am – I-84 is currently closed eastbound from Pendleton to Ontario and both eastbound and westbound between Baker City and Ontario.
ORE204 Tollgate and ORE245 (1 mile North of Intersection with John Day Highway US-26) are also closed.
At this time ODOT has not provided any information on the length of this closure or when the area will reopen.
