GRANT COUNTY – The following is a press release from Grant County Emergency Management regarding public resources for wildfire evacuees:

Grant County Public Resources for evacuees and those effected by wildfires.
The Grant County Emergency Management Center has added an Emergency Information line. Information regarding evacuations, shelter and fire behavior are updated daily. Please call (541) 575- 2885. Please note that the recording has a delay before the information begins, please be patient.
John Day has a Red Cross shelter at Grant Union High School. People and their small pets are welcome. Pets must be crated or kenneled.
Grant County Fairgrounds has dry camping and room for larger animals. Please contact the Fairgrounds at (541) 575-1900 with any questions.
Seneca City Hall has a clean air center, food and cots for residents displaced by fire or needing to get out of the smoke. Air scrubbers and coolers are in operation. Small pets are welcome.
There will be a cooling center at the Elk’s Lodge in John Day from 12:00-3:00 p.m. on July 20th only, for anyone needing relief from the predicted heat.
Public information boards are located in John Day at Chesters Market, Pioneer Feed and at Grant Union High School.
In Canyon City public information boards can be viewed at the City Hall.
In Seneca there are boards at the Seneca store and Seneca school.
The USFS is posting daily press releases at Canyon City and John Day Post Offices. Residents are encouraged to view the maps and updated information in any of these locations.
