LA GRANDE – (Release from La Grande Fire) The City of La Grande Fire Department has implemented a temporary ban on the use of all fireworks, outdoor burning to include recreational fires, cooking fires and charcoal fires, beginning immediately. This is due to the unusually high temperatures and dry conditions the area is experiencing. We recognize the hardship this may cause on community members but with the extreme temperatures and high risk of fires this is a necessary precaution.
Cooking stoves and fire pits fueled by liquefied or bottled fuels and pellet stoves are allowed. These appliances must be a minimum of three feet away from any flammable or combustible material.
Violators of this ban may receive a citation.
This ban will remain in place until weather and moisture conditions improve and it is officially lifted by the City of La Grande Fire Department.
