JOHN DAY – According to the latest update, the Falls Fire became very active yesterday afternoon in the northwest and northeast corners of the fire. The fire acreage is now estimated to be 110,674 with 5% containment. Northwest Team 8 Public Information Officer Thomas Kyle-Milword was on KJDY’s Coffee Time this morning and said the wind is forecast to be in firefighters’ favor working the northwesterly corner of the fire in the Donovan Mountain area:
“Crews worked through the night and will be working through today…to put some dozer line in that section, trying to turn the direction of the fire. The winds will help, we’re expecting a westerly flow, pushing the fire to the east. That should help us as we continue trying to contain that corner.”
