JOHN DAY, PRAIRIE CITY AND HINES(Released by the U.S. Forest Service)-Firefighters are improving existing control lines on the Jane 106 and Silvies 7 prescribed burns located on the Emigrant Creek Ranger District.
Fire activity in interior areas of the prescribed burns, which were conducted in May, has intensified with the recent increase in temperatures and lower humidity. Crews will remain engaged throughout the night.
Area smoke may be more visible as unburned fuels within the perimeter of the burn units are consumed. Drivers are also advised to use caution as there is an increase in firefighting resources in the area.
