WALLA WALLA – The Walla Walla Fire Department responded to seven incidents suspected of being related to fireworks within the city limits from July 3 to July 4. Of the seven incidents, four were a combination of dumpster or garbage can fires.
WWFD estimates $225 in property damage and $2,600 in firefighting personnel overtime expenses were incurred from these responses.
Last year, WWFD responded to 25 known or suspected fires which caused more than $187,000 in damage and $2,500 in overtime expenses – the most recorded since the city began tracking July 4 calls of service beginning in 2000.
