Haines man killed in farming accident

BAKER COUNTY – (Release from the Baker County Sheriff’s Office) Baker County Dispatch received a 911 call at approximately 10:21 am on July 7th regarding an accident involving farm equipment near Haines.

Deputy Ebeling responded to the scene at the intersection of Pole Line Road and Old Wingville. The investigation determined that Robert Paul Marlow (66 yoa) of Haines, was attempting to jumpstart a swather. As the swather started, the tire struck Marlow. The property owner arrived and located Marlow on the ground. The swather was still running, and the property owner used a pickup truck to block it. He then climbed onto the machine to shut it off. 

The operator was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

Haines Fire, Baker Rural Fire Protection District, Keating Rural Fire Protection District, and Pioneer Ambulance assisted.
