BAKER COUNTY – (Release from the Baker County Road Department) The Baker County Road Department will commence chip sealing and fog sealing operations on Old Wingville Road, Wingville Lane, and Pocahontas Road from July 8th through July 30th. Travelers should anticipate temporary detours and delays.

Travel Impacts: Motorists can expect delays of up to 20 minutes, reduced speeds, and loose rock on the roadway. Flaggers will be directing single-lane traffic through the work zones. Drivers are urged to reduce their speed and remain vigilant of construction activities. Extra travel time is advised to prevent loose rock from damaging other vehicles. Although road crews will sweep the roadway, loose rock may persist for several days following the chip seal operations.

Bicyclists are advised to prepare for riding on chip rock-covered sections with no usable shoulders. They should consider alternate routes or delay travel to avoid the work zones. Pedestrian access, including for those with disabilities, will be maintained through or around the work zones.

For Ranchers, Farmers, and Property Owners: Please refrain from using farm equipment on the affected roads during and up to two days after the chip sealing. Additionally, adjust irrigation pivots and lawn sprinklers to avoid spraying water on the roadway. If you need to move livestock, plan to do so early in the morning when it is coolest and inform the Road Department at 541-523-6417.

The Baker County Road Department says it appreciates the community’s cooperation and understanding during these essential maintenance activities. For the latest traffic updates and potential changes to the schedule, visit TripCheck.com.
