UMATILLA COUNTY – The Oregon State Police reports that a crash Monday night on Interstate 84 at milepost 223 injured two Texans.
A commercial motor vehicle driven by Amanj Abdulla of Richmond, Texas sideswiped an over-heated pickup truck with a trailer that was parked on the shoulder of the freeway. The CMV then crashed through the guardrail and rolled down an embankment.
The trooper said that when he arrived, the CMV driver had gotten out of the vehicle and was conscious and alert. However, he was also complaining of back and shoulder pain. Umatilla Tribal EMS called Life Flight and the driver was taken to an unnamed hospital for treatment.
The driver of the pickup truck suffered minor abrasions. Ernesto Morales Diaz, 32, of Leander, Texas was given a courtesy ride to an area motel.
