Here is a look at some of the events planned in Umatilla, Morrow, and Walla Walla counties for Independence Day:
In Pendleton, the Fourth of July Parade begins at 10 a.m. in front of City Hall. It travels across South Main Street and down Court Avenue, ending at the Pendleton Convention Center. A community-wide celebration from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Roy Raley Park. Fireworks are set to begin at around 10 p.m. in the field west of Walmart. The display should be visible throughout the city.
Hermiston’s Stars and Stripes Fourth of July Celebration is from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Butte Park. There will be live entertainment and other family activities. The fireworks show at dusk will be at the top of the butte. Flaggers will be present at the end of the pyrotechnics to help motorists exit the area.
Walla Walla is planning its Independence Day Fireworks Display at 10 p.m. It will last about 20 minutes. The public is welcome to the free show. It’s at Walla Walla Community College, 500 Tausick Way.
In Boardman the Fourth of July Parade is at 11 a.m. on South Main Street. A community celebration is planned for the afternoon at Boardman Marina Park. The grand finale there will be the fireworks at around 10 p.m.
Stanfield is hosting a parade at 10 a.m. that begins and ends at Coe Park, following the same route as last year. There are activities, including a pie-baking contest, at Bard Park from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. At dusk there will be a fireworks display by Umatilla County Fire District No. 1.
Ione will have a parade along Main Street at 1 p.m. Swimming is free at the high school. Family activities are planned from 2-6 p.m. at Ione City Park and live entertainment will be taking the Amphitheater stage beginning at 2 p.m. The fireworks display there will begin at dusk and will be visible throughout the city.
