OSP responds to 2 injury accidents over the weekend

UMATILLA COUNTY – The Oregon State Police responded to two serious crashes over the weekend.

The first, Friday night, was on Highway 207. The trooper reports that a vehicle operated by Trista Catherine Dexter, 40, swerved into oncoming traffic from the eastbound lane and hit a westbound vehicle head-on. Both drivers were injured. The driver of the westbound vehicle was transferred by Life Flight to a trauma center for a serious injury. He is identified as Jose Jimenez Carmona, 64, of Hermiston.

OSP reports the case is being forwarded to the Umatilla County District Attorney’s Office to consider if Dexter should be charged with third-degree assault and driving under the influence of intoxicants.

The second crash was on Sunday night on Interstate 84 eastbound at milepost 220. The trooper stated that Jonathan David Farmer, 22, of Pendleton, was seriously injured when he failed to negotiate a curve and struck the guardrail. He was taken to Kadlec Regional Medical Center by Life Flight.
