JOHN DAY – Grant County Firewise Director Irene Jerome was in KJDY Studios recently, and told listeners that nowadays, her biggest focus is on her work with the American Forest Resource Council, and that our local Firewise will soon be led by folks at the Grant Soil and Water Conservation District:
“I have contracted with the County for many years to do the fire prevention and Firewise program. I’m transitioning out of that. We’ll have my colleague Tyler Bales with Grant Soil and Water District come in; we’ll do a separate program. They’re taking over, so I’m contracting a little bit with Soil and Water for the next…probably, a little over a year. I’m not contracting with the County any longer.”
Jerome said when they come in for Coffee Time soon, we’ll discuss the Red Flag Program and the Grant-Harney Fire Co-Op.
