HARNEY COUNTY (Released by the U.S. Forest Service Malheur National Forest)-This week new firefighters have been attending Guard School. Guard School is compiled of basic fire classes for wildland firefighters to become certified as entry level wildland firefighters.
To end the weeks training on June 21, there will be a hands-on live fire scenario. This will be located with in the Jane 106 prescribed burn unit, 8 miles east of Silvies Valley.
Firefighters will continue to monitor the area once the scenario has been competed.
