PENDLETON – Julie Muller has resigned her position on the Pendleton School District Board of Directors effective June 18. She is continuing her professional career training, which would not mesh with her also serving on the school board.

“She is in a masters of arts teaching program and will begin her student teaching at Sherwood Elementary in August, which would have been a conflict of interest if she remained on the board,” Superintendent Kevin Heading said. “The PSD board of directors and school district are grateful for her service and wish her the best as she begins her career in education.”

Muller’s term has three more years to run. The school board is seeking applicants to fill the position over the next month. Applicants must be legally registered voters who currently reside and will have resided within the district boundaries for a year immediately before the appointment. The deadline to submit applications is July 15. They should be mailed to Pendleton School District, 107 NW 10th St. or emailed to Board Secretary Ronda Thornburg at rthornburg@pendletonsd.org.

Applications should include the applicant’s full name, physical residential address, telephone number, and email address. Applicants should express why they want to serve on the board, give a description of what the role of an effective board member is, and include a list of prior involvement in school district activities. Those who need more information may contact Chairwoman Beth Harrison at bharrison@pendletonsd.org.
