MILTON-FREEWATER – The Milton-Freewater Police Department is moving into its new building next Tuesday.
The new building is located behind Milton-Freewater City Hall at 716 S. Columbia St.
Chief Joe Shurtz said that 911 lines will be temporarily transferred to the Walla Walla Dispatch Center so that technicians can move necessary communication equipment.
Shurtz adds that starting June 25th anyone needing to make a police report should visit the new building.
Originally bid at $8.24 million, city officials state several design changes for the new building were made that saved the citizens over $500,000.
Shurtz said an open house and ribbon cutting ceremony is being planned. Details will be announced once those event plans are finalized.
