PENDLETON/EUGENE – The Pendleton High School class of 2024 graduated Saturday morning at the Round-Up Grounds. Principal Patrick Dutcher told those gathered at the ceremony that the class definitely left the school better than they found it. The seniors began high school during the pandemic, using distance learning for their first year.

Three of the seniors were not there. Instead, they were in Eugene winning the state 4A softball title against Henley. Avery Krigbaum, Melanie Boatman, and Madaline Schumacher received their diplomas and tossed their hats in the air on the field at the University of Oregon after they secured the title.

The Buckaroos, seeded second, defeated number-one seed Henley of Klamath Falls 4-0. Pendleton finishes the season 29-2. The Buckaroos have now won five championships in softball since 2012. This is their second title in three years and their first since they moved from 5A to 4A.
