Joseph – (Information from the Joseph Fire Department) On Sunday, May 26, at approximately 7:00 a.m., the Joseph Fire Department, along with the Enterprise Fire Department, Wallowa County EMS and Oregon State Police, responded to a reported structure fire at the Joseph Community Events Center. Joseph FD arrived on scene within 6 minutes of the initial call and later requested Enterprise FD and Wallowa County EMS.
After observing light smoke coming from the community center, crews located a fire in the northwest corner of the building, which was extending through the attic spaces. Crews were able to quickly knock down the fire and, as stated by the Joseph FD, “continued to operate on Overhaul to check for fire extension.”
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
