WALLA WALLA – The Walla Walla City Council unanimously approved Wednesday night an emergency resolution to replace a leaking waterline.
City Manager Elizabeth Chamberlain told the council Whitman College’s contractor working on their new Junior-Senior housing project brought the issue to the city’s attention.
Public Works Director Ki Bealey said due to the city’s water distribution division being very short-handed right now, the city will utilize Whitman College’s contractor who is right there with all the equipment and capability to do the work.
When asked about cost, Bealey said it’s estimated to be in the $40,000 to $50,000 range. Bealey added that the city will bear the cost of the water line replacement.
