BMCC budget is looking better

PENDLETON – It’s budget time and Blue Mountain Community College President Mark Browning has good news.
“For the first time in four years there are no cuts in staff or faculty,” he said. “It has not been easy.”
Browning said that while the budget for the fiscal year that begins July 1 is not a record setter, it seems to indicate better times are on the horizon.
“We can see the edge of the forest and we can see some light out there,” he said. “We’re not out of the woods yet, but we’re fairly certain that light is not an oncoming train.”
The BMCC Budget Committee had its first look at the spending plan at a meeting Monday evening. The committee is comprised of the seven elected members of the college’s board of directors and seven community members, each one representing an area that BMCC serves.
