ODOT’s Eastern Oregon ADA curb ramp upgrades on track for completion

EASTERN OREGON – The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) has provided an update on the progress of the ADA curb ramp upgrade project in four cities across eastern Oregon. According to ODOT, the contractor, HP Civil, has been advancing on these critical infrastructure enhancements throughout the winter months and is now well on schedule to complete the project by August 2024.
Here’s a breakdown of the current status and upcoming tasks in each location:
Jordan Valley
Concrete work has been finalized, with the remaining tasks focusing on electrical installations for the rapid flashing beacon at U.S. 95 and Oregon Avenue. Paving is slated for completion by May 10, with most other tasks, except finish work, expected to conclude by May 17. Finish work involves the installation of signage and re-striping of highway and pedestrian markings.
Ontario
Curb ramp construction is progressing at Yturri Beltline and Verde Avenue, with completion expected by May 17 after paving the week of May 13. Work continues along U.S. 30, with concrete island enhancements near I-84 and the installation of new pedestrian infrastructure on Goodfellow Street. Night work on U.S. 30 will continue into July.
Huntington and Adrian
Concrete work in both locations is finished, with remaining tasks including soil infill behind newly constructed curb ramps and re-striping of highway and pedestrian markings.
Throughout the duration of these projects, residents and travelers are advised to anticipate intermittent flaggers, lane and shoulder closures, and potential side street closures. ADA-accessible pedestrian detours will be in place around all work zones to ensure pedestrian safety. Access to local businesses will be maintained, and motorists are reminded to exercise caution and watch for construction crews and equipment.
