OLYMPIA – Washington Gov. Jay Inslee will visit Walla Walla today (Wednesday) to tour an adult family home, visit the Sustainable Living Center and meet with leaders of an international industrial and building material manufacturer who recently purchased land in Walla Walla County.
His visit will begin with a stop at a supervised adult home facility outfitted with a new electric heat pump. The state departments of Commerce and Social and Health Services launched a pilot program to equip five adult family homes in the state with the new heat pumps. The governor’s office said the $250,000 pilot program was funded by the Climate Commitment Act.
Inslee’s next stop will be at the Sustainable Living Center, a local nonprofit that introduces energy-efficient hardware and offers energy and other conservation programs to residents.
The governor will wrap up his visit by meeting with leaders from Rockwool, who recently purchased 250 acres in Walla Walla County with plans to produce insulation. Once operational, the facility will create 125 jobs.
