MILTON-FREEWATER – The Milton-Freewater City Council approved Chad Morris’ $160,000-a-year contract at its meeting Monday night. Last month, the council offered Morris the opportunity to become the next city manager.
Morris comes to Eastern Oregon from Niceville, Florida, where he has had the responsibility of deputy city manager, director of purchasing, director of information systems, and project manager of special projects. He started with the city of Niceville, with a population of 15,772, in 2001.
The position in Milton-Freewater became open after Linda Hall retired. City Recorder Leanne Steadman is serving as interim city manager.
Morris’ first day will be May 28.
