PENDLETON – The Pendleton City Council viewed a map and learned about priorities that will take a considerable amount of time to be realized in bringing housing to the Rees-Goad property on the east side of the city.
Federal and state funding has been realized for the ambitious project that will bring workforce housing to the city. Mayor John Turner said the first step will be connecting Southeast 15th Street up to just under 50 acres at the top of Franklin Grade.
“That’s our first priority,” he said. “We’ll take the road up there so that 190 lots can be developed.” Turner says the goal is to have the roadwork begin next summer.
He added that housing construction would be going on “for years to come.”
