Middle school student dies following shooting at Kennewick home

KENNEWICK – A 13-year-old boy has died following a shooting on the 200 block of East Canyon Drive Thursday night.
The Kennewick Police Department said officers responded just before 5 p.m. and located the victim who had sustained a gunshot wound. He was transported to an area hospital and tragically passed away overnight.
KPD detectives conducted a search warrant at the home and are working with the Benton County Prosecutor’s Office.
The initial investigation determined three juveniles – two aged 13 and one aged 14 – were involved and all parties have been contacted by law enforcement.
No arrests have been made and the complete investigation will be forwarded to the Benton County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
All three of the juveniles attend a middle school in Kennewick. KPD is working with the Kennewick School District to ensure resources are available for anyone affected by this tragic incident.
