LONG CREEK – Long Creek School District’s Construction class has completed the build on their first shed. According to Superintendent Larry Glaze, the class builds the sheds and sells them at cost to the public, all the while learning important construction skills.
Class Foreman and High School Junior Tucker Garinger said things went well on their first project:
“It was pretty fun to do. It was definitely a learning experience.
We put up the walls from scratch, just built it all ourselves, essentially. There was no real frame beforehand. We just kind of slapped it all together ourselves [with] no real blueprints, just with the measurements and the help of the instructor.”
Tucker said they have plans to make two more sheds, and possibly more before the end of the school year. Superintendent Glaze said folks can contact Long Creek School District for more information about purchasing a student-built shed.
