MFPD investigating robbery at local restaurant

MILTON-FREEWATER – The Milton-Freewater Police Department is investigating a robbery the occurred Sunday night at the Red Tea Garden, 14 N. Columbia St. Chief Joe Shurtz said officers responded at 7:27 p.m. to reports of a robbery that just occurred.
After officers arrived, they found an injured employee. The restaurant employee was transported to Providence St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla. No further details on their condition or injuries were released.
Officers learned the suspect was in the bar of the restaurant and took the change drawer from the cash register and left. After being confronted outside, the suspect came back into the restaurant.
The investigation into the alleged robbery is ongoing.
