JOHN DAY – John Day City Manager Melissa Bethel was on KJDY’s Coffee Time with a few updates for listeners. During their last council meeting, Bethel noted she was pleased that the entire council voted unanimously on two ways the city will save money with their big wastewater treatment project:
“The wastewater treatment plan’s original design had several buildings, kind of like a compound or a complex. When you look at the construction and the years out, getting there…and the costs, and inflation…it was decided to kind of go to a more traditional setting in one building as a traditional sewer plant, and save money that way.”
Another way the council agreed upon to save the city some dollars will be to delay the demolishment of the current water treatment plant, once the new one is up and running.
