Fear and loathing in Baker County, police recover suspected drugs and stolen vehicle

BAKER COUNTY – In what sounds like a mundane parody of a certain Hunter S Thompson story, the Oregon State Police recently recovered a vehicle stolen from Nevada along with suspected methamphetamine and other suspected stolen property. The incident took place on Tuesday, February 13 at roughly 12:10 p.m. during a traffic stop along I-84 near Milepost 308 Westbound, just south of Baker City. The Full OSP description of the incident is as follows:
“OSP conducted a traffic stop on a silver 2016 Hyundai Accent on westbound Interstate 84 near milepost 308 for a speed violation. During the stop it was discovered the vehicle was reported stolen from Nevada. Baker Valley Towing towed the vehicle to the Baker OSP Office by request of OSP. The driver and passenger gave consent to search the vehicle where suspected methamphetamine and other stolen property were found. The driver was transported to the Baker County Jail where she was booked and released for Possession of a Stolen Vehicle. Other charges are to be submitted to the Baker County District.”
As mentioned, the driver, 27-year-old Kristian Breann French of Las Vegas, Nevada, was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle on the day of arrest. According to the OSP press log, a charge of “possession of Methamphetamine 2g to < 10g” has been referred to the Baker County District Attorney for consideration. The passenger, also from Las Vegas, has not been given any charges as of the time of writing.
