BURNS – Central Oregon Disability Support Network is a family network that serves eight rural counties in Oregon, including Grant and Harney. CODSN offers peer-delivered support through training, advocacy, and connection to resources for families who have a child with a disability, from birth to age 26.
CODSN’s Nichole Adamson was on Harney County Live last week, and explained how the organization works to remove barriers for those families in rural Oregon:
“Being so far away means that support for families with children who experience developmental disabilities is hard to get. With that challenge, the state collaborated to fund these groups called Family Networks. Essentially, it means that we’re here in rural counties and communities to support families in supporting their children or loved one to live a full life.”
Adamson mentioned that CODSN is partnered with the state, which helps with both state and federal funding.
