SALEM – The Oregon Legislature’s Joint Committee on Addiction and Community Safety Response began a series of meetings Monday. The committee plans to meet on Mondays and Wednesdays to discuss solutions to the drug crisis and how Measure 110 could be repaired to help reduce it.
The lawmakers from the House of Representatives and the Senate have been charged with coming up with a plan that will keep Oregonians safe, clean up the streets, and connect more people to drug treatment. Yesterday’s meeting focused on new ideas and amendments to the committee’s initial proposal in meetings held before the 2024 session of the Legislature began.
Tomorrow (Wednesday) the meeting will open a public hearing to allow Oregonians to weigh in on the committee’s work and make suggestions. The meeting will begin at 5 p.m. in Hearing Room A. It will also be live-streamed from the Oregon Legislature’s website.
Those who wish to give testimony can find information on how to participate in all of the legislature’s public hearings at https://www.oregonlegislature.gov/citizen_engagement.
