WALLA WALLA – Walla Walla City Manager Elizabeth Chamberlain and Council Member Rick Eskil will be in Olympia this coming Monday and Tuesday to share the city’s legislative priorities with the Washington Legislature.
While there, Chamberlain said she and Eskil will talk to legislators about the city of Walla Walla’s idea of looking into a sales tax sharing agreement with the city of College Place.
At the conclusion of Wednesday night’s city council meeting, Chamberlain said State Rep. Mark Klicker (R-Walla Walla) is sponsoring House Bill 2428 which would allow cities to voluntarily share certain sales and use tax revenue. The bill has a hearing scheduled for next week.
“And that hearing is scheduled for Monday, so we’ll be prepared to testify on that,” Chamberlain said.
Other legislative priorities that Chamberlain and Eskil are there to support are the completion of phase eight of US 12 and the Myra Road extension project.
