WALLA WALLA – The Walla Walla County Board of Commissioners will meet this afternoon (Monday) at 1:15 p.m. to consider two separate proposals by the Port of Walla Walla. The port wants to spend $200,000 each from the port’s portion of the economic development sales tax fund.
The first project is Walla Walla Community College’s farm-to-fork facility expansion project. The funds would support a new 48 by 72 foot shop building. The shop would allow the college to bring its recently purchased production equipment and other equipment and resources onto campus in one location.
The farm-to-fork program combines WWCC’s agriculture and culinary arts departments. Students learn about raising and growing as well as preparing and serving meat and produce, some of which is raised or grown on campus.
The second project is the 7,680 square foot Life Flight Network hangar and crew quarters project at Walla Walla Regional Airport. Life Flight Network said by having its crew located in the same facility as the helicopter and potentially a future fixed-winged airplane allows for faster response and service to those in need.
