BOISE — Idaho Power customers will see higher electric bills beginning in the new year.
The Idaho Public Utilities Commission approved a settlement that allows Idaho Power to increase rates beginning in January.
In Oregon, Idaho Power serves parts of Baker County and a large portion of Malheur County, including Ontario.
In a statement, the commission says it worked to strike a balance between customer impact and the company’s operational needs.
The approved amount stands at $54.7 million, a notable reduction from Idaho Power’s initial proposal of $111,304,981 million. The Committee says its decision reflects efforts to minimize the impact on customers while ensuring the company can continue delivering safe and reliable services, along with a fair rate of return.
Customers can expect to see an increase from $5 to $10 on their monthly bill in 2024.
In 2025 customers can expect another increase from $10 to $15 each month.
