UPDATE: Court records indicate the little girl who died in Kennewick Wednesday had ingested pills containing fentanyl. The child’s mother, Judy Bribiescas, 39, was taken to Benton County Jail and booked on suspicion of first-degree manslaughter.
The court records, which were filed Thursday, alleged that the pills were left out in the open and police found them in the room. The papers also indicate that first responders tried using naloxone on the child but it did not revive her. An autopsy is planned for Tuesday.
KENNEWICK – The Kennewick Police Department is investigating the death of a 4-year-old child as first-degree manslaughter.
Officers were dispatched at 9:38 p.m. Wednesday to the Econo Lodge, 300 N. Ely St., for an EMS assist regarding a breathing stoppage involving the child.
Officers and fire personnel began providing first aid. The Kennewick Fire Department transported the child to a local hospital, where they passed away. The next of kin was notified.
According to KPD, the scene was contained, and the department’s Criminal Investigation Division took over. The investigation is ongoing.
